A get together for the women from the last Drum Birthing group.

A returning into a known circle of women, and a first meeting of the drums... we lovingly call it a play date for the new-born drums.

Life moves after ceremony.

Now there is an opportunity to share how life has moved for you since the birthing of the drum. How has the drum woven into your life? Sometimes something has to give, before desired change can happen... Sometimes a renewed sense of aliveness and groundedness might show... sometimes life has simply taken over again with not much time at all to explore the drum... There is no right no wrong, it just is. And sharing it with women that you have grown close to might just be the thing needed to integrate what might have been fermenting there for a while. Often there is a common thread in the group.

And like before, we will keep our hands busy. This time with call forth a sibling for your drum in form of a rattle. In most cases, there will be some left-over hide from your drum skin. And this is what we use to create the rattle. Additional skills that will be part of this are basic carving and learning how to make string and how to prepare the string fibres from locally sourced plants. Ever deepening the connection to land and all our relations.

The drum is the heartbeat.
The rattle is the breath.

The river will soak the hide, the earth will help give it shape and fire & air will dry it.

We will also explore the sound of the your drums.

How to let rhythm settle the nervous system. How to drum for yourself when the ground feels unsteady.
Exploring how the beat of the drum might move emotional and physical stagnation from the body...

There will be space to lie down and receive the drum.
Space to drum for one another.
Space to feel what sound does in the body.
